A Day in St. Paul // Style on a Budget

What is the most exciting day for a pseudo Minnesotan? When a peek into spring arrives and you can finally wear a light jacket, and leave the parka behind. While it was a little windy, feeling the sunshine makes this California girl feel right at home.

Jean Jacket- Roxy Purse- Just Fab (similar- blue no longer available)

Necklace- Handmade (simular)
I am so obsessed with this necklace. My sister (see her blog, here!) bought it for me from a local Lynchburg Virginia shop. It is handmade, and one of a kind.

Jeans- Old Navy Top- H&M; Shein (simular)
Tall ladies! These jeans are from Old Navy, and they make this particular style in tall lengths (and short, too!). They are long enough that I can roll them without being an awkwardly short length.

Wait for a sale before buying anything at Old Navy! I got this particular pair of jeans for under $15 during a 30% or 40% off special. It is worth getting on their email list, having items you love saved in your cart, and going back when you get an email about upcoming promotions.

Boots- Target

Belt- Vintage (simular)
My belt is vintage. I encourage anyone wanting to get on the western belt trend to go check local thrift stores and look for vintage genuine leather options before settling for synthetic. Not only will the belt be cheaper and more durable, but it will have the perfect look.

I hope you enjoyed this outfit post; check back for another post soon!

Cafe Astoria // Rainbow Lattes

Cafe Astoria- Located in St. Paul, this tiny coffee shop has produced quite the social media buzz. Ever since I stumbled upon the photos of the quaint shop's rainbow and 24k gold lattes, I knew I had to go and see/taste them for myself.

Cafe Astoria has a rustic, industrial vibe

My friend Hannah and I decided to go this past weekend and brave the Saturday rush to see what all the fuss was about around this shop. We both got smoothie bowls and coffee, and while the coffee was gorgeous, I'd go back again for the smoothie bowl. It was SO good-- and beautiful!

Having a photographer friend is fun! Check back on the blog for an outfit post soon!

Cafe Astoria is an experience for sure! I'd recommend going on a weekday vs. the weekend. While the cafe closes on Mondays, they are open Tuesday-Sunday and we were told the shop has a much more secluded and quiet atmosphere on the weekdays.

Claddagh Coffee//Life in Minneapolis

This past weekend Evan and I celebrated our three-year anniversary. Instead of doing anything fancy, we decided to go find a local coffee shop to try, and stumbled across Claddagh Coffee. The Irish coffee shop is quintessential with the Irish monograms and inspired menu.

Evan doesn't particularly love coffee. Although, he did want to try the "Salty Dog Caramel Latte" that I ordered.

The latte art was beautiful, as expected. While many of the coffee shops I have tried don't have super strong lattes, (much to my dismay) this one was really good. The espresso-to-milk ratio was just about right, Lol.

Overall, a super cool place to visit if you're nearby! The aesthetic is quite cozy and remote, and perfect for a small date or lunch with friends.

Home Style

Sometimes it is hard to redecorate. Home decor can be so incredibly expensive, but it really doesn't have to be. Here are a few tips and tricks to getting new, on-trend styles for your home, apartment, or dorm.

1. Shop at discount designer stores

The biggest tip to get brand new, designer items for your living space is cruising into your local Marshalls or TJ Max. I have found beautiful statement pieces on clearance such as end tables, succulent terrariums, etc., that have the look I am going for on a tight budget.

Websites like Ebay, Wayfair, Hobby Lobby and Overstock are also great as well!

TJ Maxx Indian Mercury Glass Lantern, $15
TJ Maxx Nakoma Faux Fur Throw, $20
Hobby Lobby White Marble Container, $13

TJ Maxx- Three Hands Wooden Table, $36
